The castle of Puivert
Cathares castles, the castle of Puivert is certainly one of the best preserved. It is also one of the most interesting monuments of the fourteenth century. With its 35 meters high dungeon in which four splendid rooms are superimposed, its six defense towers, this fortress dominates the old glacial lake of Puivert.

The castle of Queribus
Castle Quéribus (XII-XIV), built on an impressive rocky peak, is the last island of Cathar resistance during the Crusade against the Albigensians (1255). An excellent example of military architecture, the polygonal keep is famous for its Gothic hall whose vault rests on a powerful circular pillar blooming into a "palm tree".

The Abbey of Saint-Hilaire
We do not know precisely the origins of this Benedictine abbey. Her first mention dates back to 825, when she holds, according to tradition, the body of St Hilaire.
It is possible to visit the cloister, the galleries and the abbey church which contains a sarcophagus of Saint Sernin, first bishop of Toulouse around the year 250.

Ville Rouge Termenes
Located in the heart of the medieval village, the imposing mass of the castle (XIII-XIV century) commands respect. It was owned by the archbishops of Narbonne from 1110 to 1789. Entirely restored, it is a remarkable example of medieval military architecture. The village is closely linked to the history of Catharism.
